Policy
Privacy Policy · Last updated October 28, 2026
We start every project by listening to the people we serve. This policy works the same way. It tells you, in plain words, what we collect when you visit our site or work with us, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.
Seal Media is a filmmaker-led production company. Our work is built on three things we take seriously: people come first, we say what we do, and we respect the work and the people who make it. That applies to your information as much as it applies to a story we tell.
The short version
- We collect what you give us (like your name and email) and basic information about how people use our site.
- We use it to send what you asked for, answer you, do the work you hire us for, and make our site better.
- If you sign up for a free resource, we may also email you now and then. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t rent out our email list.
- Your work stays yours. If you’d rather we not show it, we’ll take it down.
- Questions or requests? Email connect@sealmedia.us. A real person will answer.
Who we are
Our website address is: https://sealmedia.us.
Seal Media is a video production and brand storytelling company based in Costa Mesa, California, serving Orange County, Los Angeles and beyond. When this policy says “we,” “us” or “our,” it means Seal Media.
What we collect
What you give us
- Contact forms: your name, email, phone and anything you choose to tell us about your project.
- Free resources (like the Free AI Brand Audit Prompt or the Social Media Calendar): your first name, email, what kind of organization you are and, for the prompt, which AI tool you use.
- Brand Connection Audit purchases: payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe gives us your name, email and a record of the purchase. We never see or store your full card number.
- Audit intake form: your business details, website, social links, audience, competitors, goals and any files or links you choose to share.
- Emails, calls and meetings: whatever you share with us while we work together.
What is collected automatically
When you visit our site, some information is collected through cookies and similar tools: pages visited, time on the page, clicks and scrolling, the site that sent you here, your general location (city or region, not your street address), device and browser type, and your IP address. The section on cookies below names each tool.
How we use it
- To send you what you asked for, like a prompt, calendar or reply.
- To plan, produce and deliver work you hire us for.
- To send occasional emails with storytelling tips, resources and offers (see “Emails from us”).
- To understand which pages help people and which don’t, so we can make the site clearer.
- To measure whether our ads and posts are reaching the right people.
- To keep the site secure and keep spam out.
Emails from us
When you sign up for a free resource, we email it to you. We may also send a few follow-up emails and occasional updates with storytelling tips, resources and offers from Seal Media. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or just reply and ask.
We send email through Brevo, which tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. This helps us send fewer emails people don’t want, and more of the ones they do.
Cookies
Cookies are small files saved in your browser. When you first visit, a short notice at the bottom of the screen lets you know we use them. Here is exactly what runs on our site and why.
Google Analytics and Google Ads
We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use our site, and the Google Ads tag to measure how our ads perform. Google may use cookies to show you our ads on other sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and manage the ads Google shows you at My Ad Center. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Clarity
We partner with Microsoft Clarity to understand how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replays (a recording of how a visit moved through the page, like clicks and scrolling). We use this to find what’s confusing and fix it, and for security purposes. This usage data is collected using first- and third-party cookies and similar tools. To learn how Microsoft collects and uses your data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Google reCAPTCHA
Our contact form uses reCAPTCHA to tell people from spam bots. It is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Our cookie notice
When you click “Got it” on the notice, your browser saves a small note so we don’t show it again.
WordPress cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Your cookie choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, though some features (like embedded videos) may not.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
On our site this includes our films hosted on Vimeo, and Google reviews shown on some pages.
Our free AI prompt
The Free AI Brand Audit Prompt is something you paste into an AI tool of your choice, like Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. Anything you type into those tools goes to that company, not to us, and is covered by their privacy policies. We never see your AI conversations or results unless you choose to share them with us.
Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini are trademarks of their respective owners. Seal Media is not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI or Google.
Respecting the work and the people behind it
We are media partners. That means we treat your story, your footage and your brand with the same care we’d want for our own.
- Your materials stay yours. Footage, photos, logos, brand files and intake answers you share are used only to do the work you hired us for. Who owns the finished work is spelled out in your project agreement.
- Proud of the work, and open about it. We may feature work we’ve made with clients, along with their names and logos, in our portfolio, case studies and social posts. If you’re a client and would rather we didn’t, tell us and we’ll remove it.
- People on camera are respected. People who appear in our productions sign a release before their image or voice is used. If you appear in something we made and have a concern, tell us and we’ll talk it through with you.
- Credit where it’s due. We credit the artists, crews and talent who make the work. When we talk about other people’s campaigns, we credit the makers and don’t reuse their footage, logos or copy.
- If we got it wrong, we’ll fix it. If you own something on our site, see a missing or wrong credit, or want your likeness or work removed, email us. We’ll respond quickly and fix it or take it down.
Who we share your data with
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t rent or trade our email list. We share information only with the services that help us run Seal Media, and only what they need to do their job:
- Brevo (email and contact management)
- Stripe (payments)
- Google (Analytics, Ads, reCAPTCHA, Sheets and Drive for shared files)
- Microsoft Clarity (site usage insights)
- Zapier (connecting our payment and email tools)
- Our website host and the WordPress tools that run this site
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Email contacts stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Project and purchase records are kept as long as needed for the work and for tax and legal records. Analytics data is kept according to each tool’s settings.
How we protect it
Our site uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, we use established providers for payments and email, and only the team members who need your information can see it. No system is perfect, but we take care with what you trust us with.
What rights you have over your data
Suggested text: If you have an account on this site, you can request an exported file of your personal data. This includes any data you have provided to us. If you have left comments, you can also request this data. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we have about you, or to stop emailing you. Just email us. We’ll respond within 30 days.
California residents: you can ask whether we’ve shared your personal information with others for their own marketing. We don’t do that.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There’s no common standard for how sites should respond, so our site does not currently change its behavior when it receives one. You can still control tracking with the cookie choices above.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
The services listed above may store and process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Children
Our site is made for businesses and organizations. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
